Apple Health Records now available in Europe and Canada
The “Health Records (Clinical Documentation)” feature within the Health application is now available to users in the UK and Canada. With it, users can securely view and store their medical records directly on their iPhone.
In UK the continuity of care hospital-general medicine is achieved with FHIR
NHS Digital together with TPP and a system integrator have developed an interoperability infrastructure based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) to exchange first aid reports, discharge letters and outpatient reports with general practitioners.
Interoperability by-design in application design
I note with great amazement that, with few exceptions, we continue to design healthcare applications as “islands in their own right”, but then worry, once the development is over, how to integrate them with other systems.
