According to a Juniper Research study, the number of people using therapeutic and wellness applications will increase from 627 million in 2020 to more than 1.4 billion in 2025.
This is an increase of 288% compared to levels of use before the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019, thanks in part to streamlined certification rules. The figure shows that digital therapeutic and wellness applications have become a lifeline for many people during the pandemic, as many of them were unable to receive the necessary treatment in hospital.
Juniper Research predicts that the market value of digital therapies and wellness applications will grow from €4.9 billion in 2020 to more than €47 billion in 2025.
Research says this growth will be largely fuelled by the acceptance of digital therapeutic technologies by institutions such as health insurance and employers, who are expected to contribute more than half of digital therapy revenues.
